“If I only knew the Will of God, I would do it!”

What a crazy statement to say.  It’s true we all want to know what God wants us to do and how He would want us to live, but do we really want to know God’s Will completely?

If we understood God’s will completely we might: Continue Reading »

The most difficult part of prayer for me is listening.  I get busy and sometimes my prayers are quick and I don’t really expect God to tell me something.  That is what makes this aspect of prayer so difficult, we have to first start with changing our expectation of God!  For more on expecting more from God go here or here! The beginning of Prayer is praise.  How can we not come before God without first thanking Him and praising Him for His awesome magnificence.

“I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”

True Repentance

P-      Praise

R-   Repent

A-           Ask

Y-         Yield

When it comes to repentance I think we have a twisted view.  We say, “Oh, sorry God I told that lie.” or “Sorry that I forgot to read my bible.”  But I think that repentance is much bigger than just saying “I’m Sorry.”  When we come before God in prayer we have to remember two things, who we are talking to and what we are talking about.

Who We Are Talking To:

When we approach God we have to consider the reality of who God is and what Jesus did for us. So who is God? Isaiah 6:3 says it clearly, “And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”” He is HOLY!  In the Old Testament we see God as the creator of all living things, the liberator of nations, the protector of His people and the Holy One of Israel.  If you were to look on His face you would die.  We are so unworthy to even speak of Him let alone speak to Him.  With that in mind we must approach God with great reverence.

Give It To Me Now!

One of the most common aspects of prayer is the idea of asking God for things.  This is a Biblical principle, but I think we have taken it too far.  There are two main ways we taking asking God for things too far, first we ask but do not expect Him to answer, second we ask without doing the other aspects of prayer.

We Ask But Do Not Expect Him To Answer

When we pray and ask God to do something we must believe that He will actually do it.  If we do not then we are only giving God lip service. Continue Reading »

Pray Without End…

When we think about Worship and prayer what verses come to mind?

Of the 246 verses found in the New International version of the Bible, one of the most recognized in regards to Worship is John 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Of the 229 verses found in the New International version of the Bible, the most profound and hard to understand in regards to Prayer is 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray continually” Continue Reading »

Expect?

When you are sick and pray to feel better…what do you expect?

When you are in finacial trouble and you pray for a blessing…what do you expect?

When you are ready to give up and you pray for a miracle…what do you expect?

We all expect something in every situation.  When it’s raining and we walk outside we expect to get wet.  When we trip, we expect to fall.  But what if we didn’t; what if we didn’t get wet in the rain, what if we didn’t fall when we tripped?  What if we threw all our our expectations out the window?  The truth is we already have. How far have we run from God?  When T.V. and video games become more important than God’s Word.  When saying a simple prayer before we eat doesn’t ever cross our minds.  When family devotionals are replaced by family fights. Continue Reading »
