Our Heart For Uganda

Many have asked us, “Why Uganda?”  The answer may sound simple.  Our heart is deeply burdened beyond compare for the plight of Uganda.  We can’t really explain how it all happened but we know this one thing, God gave us His heart for this country in a way we could not imagine, at a time we were not expecting.

What Happens When Giving It All Isn’t Enough

What happen’s when you give it all and then God says I want you to give more?

I thought, not long ago, that I was giving my all to God.  I served Him with all I had, I loved Him with everything I am or so I thought.  Then He opened my eyes to a whole new world that was right in front of me.  A world I never desired to experience until God blew me away…

There is a world not far from ours, with people not much different than us.  I world where dirty water is normal.  Where the threat of someone kidnaping your children is prevalent.  Where disease and death happens daily.  A world without hope. Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t Drink The Water

“Don’t drink the water!” Daniel cried.

“It’ll be ok Daniel, I’ll just drink a little bit.” I said.

“Don’t drink the water!” Daniel screamed, “It will make you sick.” Tears started to well up in his eyes.

These are the cries, not of a Ugandan boy, but of a preschooler in East Tennessee.  Daniel doesn’t understand what it’s like to go without food for days.  He has no fear that someone will break into his home and force him to kill other people.  He doesn’t know what it’s like to watch his parents slowly die from aids, he can’t fathom having to carry water for miles, or search for firewood.  But Daniel does understand that if you drink dirty water, you will get sick.

Everyday kids in Uganda face this alarming reality, “If I drink this water, tomorrow I might die.”  It’s such a hard concept to understand in America.  Yes there are thousands who are jobless, homeless and without hope in this country.  But there are also thousands of organizations to help these people.  In Kapeeka,Kawanda,Kikoza,Kisumu, & Kampala, Africa there are very few.  Through our partnership with Pastor Makumbi Johnson we have a vision and a plan to change this.

Uganda ranks in the top 25 countries in the world whose children dies before reaching their fifth birthday.  Unemployment is high and food is scarce in Uganda, but especially in the rural areas.  More than 85 percent of the people live on less than one dollar a day.

The situation is real and it’s getting serious.  You can save a life today through your support.  You can give hope back to a nation that has bee devastated.  Click here to find out how you can help.

If I Only Knew God’s Will…

“If I only knew the Will of God, I would do it!”

What a crazy statement to say.  It’s true we all want to know what God wants us to do and how He would want us to live, but do we really want to know God’s Will completely?

If we understood God’s will completely we might: Read the rest of this entry »

Like You’re Not In The Room

P-     Praise

R-    Repent

A-         Ask

Y-       Yield

The most difficult part of prayer for me is listening.  I get busy and sometimes my prayers are quick and I don’t really expect God to tell me something.  That is what makes this aspect of prayer so difficult, we have to first start with changing our expectation of God!  For more on expecting more from God go here or here! What If We All Started Praising God?

P-     Praise

R-    Repent

A-         Ask

Y-       Yield

The beginning of Prayer is praise.  How can we not come before God without first thanking Him and praising Him for His awesome magnificence.

“I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”

Psalm 146:2  Read the rest of this entry »

True Repentance

P-      Praise

R-   Repent

A-           Ask

Y-         Yield

When it comes to repentance I think we have a twisted view.  We say, “Oh, sorry God I told that lie.” or “Sorry that I forgot to read my bible.”  But I think that repentance is much bigger than just saying “I’m Sorry.”  When we come before God in prayer we have to remember two things, who we are talking to and what we are talking about.

Who We Are Talking To:

When we approach God we have to consider the reality of who God is and what Jesus did for us. So who is God? Isaiah 6:3 says it clearly, “And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”” He is HOLY!  In the Old Testament we see God as the creator of all living things, the liberator of nations, the protector of His people and the Holy One of Israel.  If you were to look on His face you would die.  We are so unworthy to even speak of Him let alone speak to Him.  With that in mind we must approach God with great reverence.

Give It To Me Now!

P-     Praise

R-    Repent

A-         Ask

Y-       Yield

One of the most common aspects of prayer is the idea of asking God for things.  This is a Biblical principle, but I think we have taken it too far.  There are two main ways we taking asking God for things too far, first we ask but do not expect Him to answer, second we ask without doing the other aspects of prayer.

We Ask But Do Not Expect Him To Answer

When we pray and ask God to do something we must believe that He will actually do it.  If we do not then we are only giving God lip service. Read the rest of this entry »

Pray Without End…

When we think about Worship and prayer what verses come to mind?

Of the 246 verses found in the New International version of the Bible, one of the most recognized in regards to Worship is John 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Of the 229 verses found in the New International version of the Bible, the most profound and hard to understand in regards to Prayer is 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray continually” Read the rest of this entry »
